About the winemaker

"Winemaking has been in the von Oetinger family since 1828, but it was not until 1966 that Robert von Oetinger laid the foundation for what would later be called Weingut von Oetinger. When I took over the estate, I decided to break with tradition. Instead of making wines with residual sugar, I wanted to show that dry wines are fantastic. At first, the other farmers laughed at me, but the press and sommeliers quickly became enthusiastic. That’s when I knew my choice was the right one."

94/100 - James Suckling
I love the cool and youthful pear and peach nose.Very pristine with excellent concentration on the long racy palate that glitters with many mineral facets! Better from 2018 through 2035.

Riesling is the most sought-after grape in Germany, and perhaps even in the entire world. This grape is a staple in the arsenal of every experienced sommelier. It has the ability to combine a dose of mouth-filling fruit with exquisite acidity, elevating many dishes to a higher level. This is a top-class Riesling, falling under the VDP classification as "GG" (Grosses Gewächs), comparable to grand cru. Achim, however, declassifies some of his wines to demonstrate that he aims to create a more approachable style.
