About the winemaker

"Neuburger is an unknown and difficult but typically Austrian grape variety. It is very susceptible to diseases and night frost, and the yields are also relatively low. That is why many farmers switch to the relatively easy Grüner Veltliner, a deadly shame! Because the Neuburger can produce fantastic wines are made. My family has been working with this grape variety for generations. I always say: Tinhof is Neuburger and Neuburger is Austria."

91/100 Falstaff
Pale yellow, green hints, silver reflections. A rather restrained bouquet with subtle notes of tobacco and yellow stone fruit. Lean on the palate, white pear, good freshness and a lemony-salty finish. A light-footed drinking pleasure.

The Leithaberg wine region is one of the oldest wine regions in the world. It is located in Austria, west of Lake Neusiedlersee and on the Burgenland side of the Leitha Mountains, near the Hungarian border. Archaeological excavations show that wine growing here dates back to the 8th century BC. This makes it in any case the oldest part of the wine region in Central Europe. The combination of fossil limestone and slate in the soil of the vineyards on the Leithaberg produces elegant dry wines with refined minerality and a somewhat salty aftertaste. The climate is mainly determined by the warm wind from the Neusiedlersee and cool nights caused by the mountains, making the wines beautifully ripe and aromatic but always supported by lively acidity. Ideal for the local Neuburger grape, but the red Blaufränkisch grape also feels like a fish in water here.
