About the winemaker

"My father taught me that while making wine, you have to trust your senses as well as nature. That's why I harvest and select the grapes by hand. Also, as one of the few winemakers in Castilla la Mancha, I work organically. I am the fourth generation winemaker in our family and hope to pass on the knowledge and skills we have accumulated to my son."

La mancha, Spain
Castilla - la Mancha is a region in south-eastern Spain. Viticulture has increasingly developed and modernised in recent years. Tierra Alegra comes from the village of Villanueva de Alcardete. As in the rest of the region, it can get very hot here during the day but cools down again at night, allowing the grapes to ripen evenly. Airén is the most widely planted white grape La Mancha, but also in the rest of Spain. With its thick skin, it knows how to withstand extreme temperatures and maintains fresh acidity despite the heat. In this wine, airén is blended with sauvignon blanc, which provides the wine with more fruity aromas in addition to even more freshness.
