About the winemaker

“When I launched my first wine, a number of South African wine journalists refused to review the wine. Because wine without pesticides, herbicides and additives was shocking and not possible, according to them. Ironically, we strive for purity and precision in our wines, nothing shocking.”

This is such a joyous chenin with fresh-apple, sliced-pear, cucumber and grassy notes, as well as lemon juice and wet stones. The palate has a very sheer, elegant, crisp and dry feel with fresh apple, blazing acidity and a flinty finish. Utterly delicious!

Swartland, South africa
If you ever fly to South Africa, you will have a long journey from Cape Town to the far north of Swartland. Beyond Malmesbury (the wine growing center of the region) you will find Bandits Kloof: A rugged part of South Africa of only 135 hectares. Not a place you immediately think of when thinking of South African wine, so far away from mass production and tourism. The region is rugged and raw and untamed. The landscape is dominated by vast wheat fields, thriving orchards and vineyards, dotted with islands of wilderness and quaint farming villages. Due to the many hours of sunshine in combination with a fresh sea breeze, this small part has developed into one of the leading areas in South Africa.

Gekocht op aanraden van Stijn. Gedronken op een proeverij van Swartland wijnen en dit is was een de mooiste wijnen die we dronken. Het mineraalachtige is goed aanwezig in deze wijn.
