About the wines
A good wine tasting is structured from light to heavy, so we start with some fresher wines. We kick things off with a sauvignon blanc from the Loire. Fresh, aromatic, and full of citrus. Next, a favorite from Germany: an easy weissburgunder from Rheinhessen. We continue our tasting with some more fruity wines. We begin this section with the "white wine of 2023," a gutedel from Baden, Germany. The next one is a more aromatic wine from Friuli—Italy’s own white wine heaven. The local friulano grape combines vibrancy with flavors of tropical fruit. We round off the box with two special, rich blends of local grape varieties. The first comes from Portugal’s Alentejo, where winemaker Antonio is the only one still working with the nearly extinct alicante branco grape. The final wine, and the closing highlight of our tasting, is a spicy blend of traditional southern French grape varieties—dangerously easy to drink.
