About the winemaker

“In 2015, I took over Winzerhof Nagel from my parents. Some things have changed. For example, in 2019, I began the transition to organic winemaking, and I’m always curious about new developments in the wine world. However, some things never change. I strive to preserve the winemaking traditions of Franken, and just like my parents, I believe that wine is made in the vineyards. Speaking of which, many of our vineyards are located in an old stone quarry—a place where you might not expect to find grapevines.”

The Weissburgunder is not only the German name for Pinot Blanc but also the youngest member of the "Pinot family." As the name suggests, it originally comes from the French Burgundy region, though it is now widely planted in areas such as Alsace and Italy's Trentino region. The grape made its way to Germany in the 14th century, where its distinctive floral aromas and freshness allowed it to become one of the country's most widely planted grape varieties.
