About the winemaker

“Years ago I was co-owner of a successful wine distributor. However, in 2013 I decided to realize our dream together with my wife and to take over a small wine estate. When we came across a domain with very old, ungrafted Garnacha and Albillo Real vines and a granite and slate soil, we fell in love immediately. Here we work completely biodynamically, we do not use any pesticides, only natural yeasts and harvesting based on the lunar calendar.”

“It's crispy and light, with very good acidity, It's lighter than the previous year, more in line with the 2018. It's vibrant and makes you salivate; it cleans your palate and gets you ready for the next bite. Really pleasant and easy to drink, ideal with tapas”

Cebreros, Spain
Although the small village of Cebreros only managed to get its own DOP in 2019, it is rapidly gaining popularity among wine enthusiasts. The small area encompasses just two valleys located around one mountain range, west of Madrid. The vineyards are all between about 700-1100 meters altitude. The soil here consists of granite and slate. These are poor soils, so the vines have to work hard. To find enough nutrition, the vines root deeply. This is also the reason that many really old vines can be found here, mostly from before the great phylloxera pandemic, all of the red Garnacha and Albillo Real grapes. All this ensures quantitatively low yields, but with a lot of concentration. In recent years, a number of dynamic winemakers have settled in the region, giving the region a huge boost.
