About the winemaker
"Our family started with a small vineyard. In 1997, we purchased Cantine Rallo. Gradually, we renovated the beautiful buildings and invested in vineyards in three different regions of Sicily. Carta d'Oro is our flagship!"

Sicilië, Italy
Sicily is a remarkable place. Not only for its beautiful beaches, Mount Etna, or delicious food, but also as a prime wine region. The soil is rich in volcanic minerals, there is a sea breeze that provides warmth in the winter, and it enjoys plenty of sunshine. Less known is that the island has more than 20 sub-regions and over 65 indigenous grape varieties. It’s no wonder that it is currently very popular among sommeliers for wines made from local grape varieties. Catarratto is one such truly Sicilian grape variety. In fact, it is the most widely planted variety on the island. It thrives well in the relatively high vineyards and fresh sea breezes. It is a grape that reveals the skill of a truly good winemaker. If the Catarratto vine produces too many grapes, the wines quickly become diluted. Only with careful pruning and limited yields do the true flavors come to the fore!
