The DOC Vinho Verde is Portugal's largest wine region, stretching from the Minho River in the north to Porto in the south. It's essentially a collection of various small sub-regions. Quinta Picouto do Cima is located in the charming sub-region of Cávado, just a stone's throw from Braga. Here, the vineyards are relatively close to the sea, which brings cooling sea breezes. However, it's also rainy. This combination makes viticulture quite demanding. The grapevines are particularly sensitive to diseases and accumulate fewer sugars as a result. Thanks to this ripening process and early summer harvest, the wines have a lower alcohol content and a distinctive fresh style. 'Verde' in the name refers to this early (green) harvest.

Sorry. Niet voor mij. Als vervanger van de ABC kan deze wijn mij niet bekoren. Positief punt: deze wijn heeft mij wel geholpen bij het nóg scherper vaststellen van mijn smaak, namelijk snerpend strak. En deze is toch te zoet (voor mij) aan de randen.

Lekker fris, smaakt goed, maar het heeft iets scherps in de afdronk. Krijg alleen mijn vinger er niet op. Als ie dat niet had zeker 4,5 ster.
