About the winemaker

“Our vineyards are situated at an altitude of over 1650 meters, currently the highest vineyards in Europe. They are nearly vertical slopes, making it impossible for machines to access. That's why all the work has to be done manually. It's a lot of effort, but the result is truly unique!"

Tenerife, Spain
When you think of Tenerife, wine might not be the first thing that comes to mind. This Canarian island is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, only 100 km away from the African coast. Despite being part of Spain, it lies about 2000 km away from the capital, Madrid. The island is dominated by the volcano 'El Teide', which, at 3718 meters, is the third tallest volcano in the world. It was the Spaniards who introduced winemaking here in the 15th century. On the fertile slopes of the volcano, mainly indigenous grape varieties are grown. The grape phylloxera pandemic never reached Tenerife, which is why some grape varieties can only be found here. Surprisingly, the wines from this island have had fans for centuries. Even Shakespeare admired these wines in many of his plays
