Rheinhessen, Germany
Cabernet sauvignon, Schwarzriesling, Spätburgunder
Max Pfannebecker makes his own style of rosé in Rheinhessen, from cabernet sauvignon, schwarzriesling and spätburgunder. Its colour is a little darker, but this rosé is feather light and pleasantly dry with a playful spiciness.

About the winemaker

“I first gained experience at other winemakers in Germany before I took over the management of our family business in 2006. My grandfather Wolfgang and father Holker still work in the company. We have made a big leap in quality and working method in recent years. We now work completely organically and only pick manually, with the greatest respect for nature. A wine can't get any better than the grapes it's made from.”

Max pfannebecker

Fun fact by our buyers Seth en Laurence
Max received his wine training from the notorious Knipser brothers in the Pfalz. He paid close attention during the lessons, because his wines can now compete with those of his teachers. Fortunately, Max also skipped school for a few hours here and there to develop his own, cheeky style.

Rheinhessen, Germany
Germany's most extensive wine region Rheinhessen lies in a bend of the Rhine. Young, talented and highly educated winemakers are causing a small revolution. They now make the most exciting wines. Not as traditionally on the steep terraces of the Rhine banks, but in the sloping hinterland. There is also Pfeddersheim, where Max Pfannebecker proves that rosé is a style that should be taken in serious. The grape varieties cabernet sauvignon, schwarzriesling and spätburgunder are harvested manually at optimum ripeness and fermented separately. Once blended, they provide a complex rosé, with fresh forest fruit and citrus, but also fresh green herbs.
