But most of the flavor is of course in the skin of the grape. By leaving the skins in the grape juice for longer, the wine not only gets more flavor, but also more body and structure.”

Friuli, Italy
Friuli is located in the northeast of Italy, at the border triangle of Italy, Slovenia and Austria. The grapes are planted on steep terrace vineyards, so they receive a large share of sun rays and ripen well. The characteristic pure freshness that many of the wines from Firuli have comes from cool influences from the Alps and the Gulf of Trieste. After the phylloxera pandemic, the area fell into oblivion. The international popularity of the Pinot Grigio grape changed this again. Farmers began bottling these wines on their own for the first time again instead of selling all the wine in bulk to large co-ops. This gave the entire region a new impetus.
