P.S. Garcia Mala Fama

Maule, Chili
Carignan, Carmenere
Felipe Garcia is one of the leading winemakers who wants to bring Chilean Carignan out of the shadows and put it center stage. The grape may have a bit of stage fright on its own, so it's accompanied by a dash of Carmenère.

About the winemaker

"There is a new red blend of 85% Carignan from Maule and 15% Carmenere (from Itata) called 2016 Mala Fama. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in neutral barrels for 26 months. The grapes come from the same place in Piedra Lisa that is also the source for Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petit Verdot. It's quite ripe at 14.5% alcohol, with notes of ripe fruit, Mediterranean, but it has good freshness with the touch of Carmenere. This is an unusual blend that seems to work quite well. It's powerful but at the same time easy and pleasant to drink, with a base of the same grapes as the Vigno."

Maule, Chili
