Salento, Italy
Negroamaro is one of the most well-known grape varieties in the warm south of Italy. This isn't surprising, as it was cultivated here long before our era. A defining characteristic of this grape is its dark, almost black skin. This directly explains the deep, almost black fruit flavors like cherries and blackberries present in the wine. At Cantina de Falco, they've been working with this grape variety for over 50 years. The winery is located just outside the city of Lecce. The estate was initially established by Salvatore Falco, the grandfather of the current owner, Gabriele. She's dedicated to carrying on the family tradition. The average age of the vines is around 30 years, which contributes to the wines' distinctive concentration. Additionally, they avoid using new oak as much as possible, aiming for an elegant style. According to Gabriele, the pure fruit should be able to speak for itself. Discover this fantastic Negroamaro firsthand!
