About the winemaker

“We have joined forces with several other winemakers from the region in a new project called Le Cirque. Not a traveling circus, but a reference to the natural amphitheater of Vingrau. The vineyards are spread across two villages and boast rich biodiversity. Thanks to our highly sustainable practices in this area, this biodiversity is well-protected. The average age of the vines is 40 years, and due to the low rainfall, yields are kept small. This results in grapes with great concentration and intensity, which is reflected in the wine.”

“Certainly no puppet show circus with a moth-eaten lion, a mangy dromedary, and a tamer (recently a cashier) urging on a petting zoo pony. This is a serious circus that, cloaked in diesel fumes, rolls in with an enormous convoy of wagons, damp tent canvases, and oiled poles. But then: inside, it’s meaty and dark. Plenty of cassis, blackberries, zesty spices, and a hefty dose of pepperiness, likely thanks to dominant syrah. Unpolished red. Brushing tannins. A full-throttle Catalan. Once again, good for an overwhelming performance this year—and all for a fraction of a circus ticket.”

Rokerig, drop, zwart fruit, gedronken bij cous cous met lams merquez worstjes. Hij kan wat mij betreft nog wat agen, hij is nog wat stroef. Maar heerlijke wijn, die alleen maar lekkerder gaat worden.
