About the winemaker
“There is a whole history below our vineyards. During our work we regularly find bowls and dishes from Roman times upstairs. But we also regularly make finds from the Middle Ages. It has now become so much that we have set up a small museum at the winery. This way you can discover history, with a glass of wine in your hand”

Languedoc, France
In the French Region of Languedoc, near the Pic de Vissou, you will find the vineyards of the village of Cabrières. The Hérault River flows straight through the village, winding its way down from the hills, across the coastal plain to the south and towards the Mediterranean Sea. People have been living here for much longer than our era, and iron ore mines have been found there from thousands of years ago. Ultimately, it was the Romans who established the first vineyards in the area. After this came the Benedictine monks in the 8th century who really put the area on the map. Through the locally famous, 480 meter high Pic de Vissou, the vineyards form a natural amphitheatre. This gives the vines many hours of sunshine, but also allows relatively cool sea breezes to reach the vineyards.
