About the winemaker

"We only use natural products that help the defences of our fiano grapes - such as algae, propolis (beeswax) and sage. For example, we let the weeds grow between the tendrils as much as possible because they attract the desired insects."

The falanghina is a grape from southern Italy and it is planted mainly in the Campania region. Its name refers to a wooden stick that was once used to support the vines; the falangha. The grape ripens late in the season and needs plenty of sunshine, and that is what it gets in sunny Campania. The danger for this authentic grape variety is in the yield. When yields are high in Campania's fertile soil, you get dull wines with little excitement. On the other hand, if you keep yields deliberately low and even prune away some bunches of grapes at the end of the season (green pruning), you get great wines that combine floral aromas with great fresh minerality.
