Fabrizio Vella Nero d'Avola
Nero d'Avola has been cultivated in Sicily since the 15th century. So it's high time to give it a new look, thought winegrower Fabrizio. His version is surprisingly elegant, full of flowers, blackberries and also completely natural.

About the winemaker
“As a proud Sicilian, I really want to show how delicious my island is. The island is of course known for its volcano, but there are also many limestone soils. For this project I chose some vineyards that are typical of this. They are located at an altitude of between 350-450 meters and a fresh sea breeze blows. The combination of these factors ensures that I can make a ripe, aromatic and at the same time fresh red wine”

Sicilië, Italy
Sicily is a special place. Besides the beautiful beaches, Mount Etna or the delicious food, it is also a wine region par excellence. The soil is of course full of volcanic minerals, there is a sea breeze that has a warming effect in winter and it is sunny. What is less known is that the island has more than 20 sub-regions and more than 65 indigenous grape varieties. It is therefore not surprising that it is now very popular among sommeliers because of the wines made from local grape varieties. The Nero d'Avola grape has been planted here since the 15th century and played an important role in trade for centuries. Many winegrowers on the Italian mainland were eager to buy wine from this grape. Its characteristic deep color, creamy structure and tannins made it an ideal blending partner to add a little more cachet to your own bad wine.
