Dos Por Tres Verdejo Sobre Lias

Rueda, Spain
Verdejo
Three brothers who have been working together on one family recipe for more than 50 years: that must produce special wine! Their verdejo is not a get-together-wine, but due to the lees maturing it is rich, tropical and surprisingly gastronomic.

About the winemaker

“The three of us have been working with the same Verdejo grape for more than 50 years. We have now developed our very own 'family recipe'. We deliberately do not go for fresh get-together-wines. We have discovered that the verdejo grape actually gains more character with longer maturation. That is why we first let our wine mature on its own lees before it goes into the bottle. The result is surprising every year.”

Rueda, Spain
The landscape in Castilla y León is not very exciting and is mainly characterized by undulating plateaus with lots of grain and the occasional herd of sheep. The town of Rueda, on the other hand, is far from boring and is known for its fruity wines. The Verdejo grapes are picked at night when the temperature has dropped to 10 to 15 degrees. Due to the lack of light, there is less chance of oxidation of the grape, so that the freshness is well preserved. In addition to being fresh, the taste of the verdejo is characterized by the smell of citrus and the taste of pears, with a slightly bitter undertone.
