About the winemaker

“At Domaine Jessiaume we make a modern style Burgundy. For example, we work completely organically, all the work in the vineyards is done manually, we only use our own yeasts and we only add sulphites for bottling. We are also very careful with the use of oak barrels, the use of wood must be subtle. This makes our wines lively, layered and exciting.”

The small village of Meursault has a mythical status even by Burgundy standards. Situated in the Côte de Beaune, it produces, together with its southern neighbours in Puligny-Montrachet, the most renowned white Burgundies. The relatively cool climate ensures an even ripening of the grapes, which leads to freshness in the wine characteristic of Meursault. The subsoil of limestone combined with marl, clay and loam provides minerality and refinement that, together with concentrated fruit, lead to a perfect balance. Winegrower William vinifies and matures his wine in oak barrels for an even rounder and creamier profile.
