About the winemaker
"I like to share my passion with other wine growers. That is also why I have been president of the Soultzmatt Wine Growers' Union and the Grand Cru Zinnkoepfle for many years. Only together can we increase our knowledge and thus make even better wines."

In the south of Alsace, half an hour's drive from Colmar, lies the small village of Soulztmatt. Here, Jean-Marie and his wife Myriam make their wines on a total of 7ha. The vineyards surround the Grand Cru Zinnkoepfle. Jean-Marie experiments with new techniques and likes to interact with other winemakers to develop thoughts, experiences and knowledge. Currently, Jean-Marie has a keen interest in biodynamic farming. They have been Terra Vitis certified since vintage 2014, while they have been working according to the "sustainable viticulture" model for 25 years. The Alsace region is close to the German border, so you will recognise many grapes from their neighbouring country. Alsace is all about aromas. Compared to their German counterparts, wines from this region tend to be richer and more expressive in style: lots of stone fruit and floral aromas. This makes the wines very suitable to go with heavier dishes, such as poultry. The region can be roughly divided into two parts: the more northern Bas-Rhin and the southern Haut-Rhin. Traditionally, the best vineyards are in Haut-Rhin. This is therefore where the most Grand Cru vineyards can be found, including the vineyards owned by the Haag family.
