Domaine Berthault Mercurey

Bourgogne, France
Pinot noir
The Burgundian area of Mercurey is named after the Roman god Mercury. Fortunately, this wine is exactly the drink you expect: inviting, juicy, rich, with structure and wood aging. Pinot noir at its best.

About the winemaker

“Domaine Berthault is primarily a family business, located on the edge of the village of Moroges. In this small hamlet you will find more vines than inhabitants, so we had no choice but to take over the domain from our parents. Because we are aware that our soil and terroir determine the quality of our wines, my sister and I do all the work in the vineyards completely manually. We do stick to our “family recipe” and we mature the wines in wood for at least a year.”

Bourgogne, France
The term Burgundian refers to the 15th century, in which the French royal family and the dukes of Burgundy expanded their power to our Low Countries. They introduced us to a lifestyle of luxury and wealth. It is not without reason that when you hear this term, you immediately think of long tables with delicious food and fantastic wines. It is therefore not surprising that Burgundy is one of the most famous wine regions in the world. Yet that is not as obvious as it seems. The red Pinot Noir grape is a real diva in the vineyards. It is very sensitive to diseases, heat and yields must be kept low. As a result, many winegrowers spend most of their time in the vineyards instead of the cellar. But this work turns out to be more than worth it, because in some cases it really doesn't get more beautiful than this red Burgundy.
