About the winemaker

Our Domaine de Deux Vallée is located in Anjou, right on the Loire River. We have several vineyards spread across the villages of St Aubin, Rochefort, Chaume and Savennières. We once started out as apple growers, but wine kept calling to us. Our orchards were replanted with grape vines, because the terroir turned out to be super favourable for planting chenin blanc."

"Ooit appelboeren. 'Maar óp een gegeven moment begon het te kriebelen' informeerden Philippe en René Socheleau. 'Ontzettend zelfs' zo vervolgden beide broers. Dan kun je twee dingen doen: krabben of de oorzaak aanpakken. Ze hebben het laatste gedaan.

De jeuk werd veroorzaakt door het feit dat zij te weten waren gekomen dat zij op de grond die zij bezaten rondom de dorpen St. Aubin, Rochefort, Chaume en Savennières in Anjou beter wijnranken konden aanplanten dan appelbomen. Ideaal terroir voor chenin blanc namelijk.  En laten we ook eerlijk zijn, wijn is toch ook een stuk interessanter dan Appelsientje? Helemaal als het zo'n goudgerande savennières betreft. Met een vleug van de fijnste perzik, een knipoog van een pronte peer en verleidelijk dansende zuren. Weet je wat? Laten we er een bijzonder sappig, smakelijk en onalledaags kippetje bij eten. "

Savennières, France
Savennières is a small (about 150 ha) appellation within the Anjou region of the Loire, where some of the finest white wines based on the captivating chenin blanc come from. The style of this chenin blanc from Savennieres is dry, rich and the wine can age for a tremendously long time. You taste rich, candied fruit, nicely integrated wood, honey and acidity, slightly filmy and a very long finish. Truly an insane chenin blanc!
