About the winemaker

“In 1981, my father decided to leave his job in Belgium to pursue his dream of winemaking. His search for the perfect terroir eventually led him to the French Minervois. And although I have now taken over the winery, he still spends every day in the vineyards. Thankfully so, because his more than 40 years of experience are truly invaluable.”

The Minervois is an enchanting wine region in Languedoc, southern France. The name is derived from the town of Minerve, named after the Roman goddess Minerva, hinting at how winemaking arrived in the area. However, human settlement in this region dates back long before Roman times, as evidenced by the caves of Fauzan and Bize-Minervois. Geologically, the soils of Minervois are diverse. The plains feature clay-rich soils with large round pebbles, while higher up in the hills, gravelly marl and limestone dominate, interspersed with slate. This diversity contributes to the wide variety of wine styles found in the region.
