About the winemaker

"Château du Grand Bos has a rich history. Since the 16th century, the castle was owned by the noble Crozilhacs family and in the 17th century it became a Carthusian monastery with associated vineyards. In the 20th century, winemaking came to a standstill, until my family restored all the vineyards in 1988. After studying vineyard management, I took over the castle and work with my mother and grandfather on the quality of our great Bordeaux wines.”

Graves, France
South of Bordeaux - on the left bank of the Garonne - lies Graves. Wine lovers simply speak of 'the left bank'. Graves takes its name from the soil conditions. The pebble and gravel-containing soil is derived from 'graveleux'. For red wine, the Graves use the grapes that also occur in the Medoc; cabernet sauvignon and merlot. In this Bordeaux, the merlot (59%) gives the refined, juicy dark red fruit. The cabernet sauvignon (39%) is responsible for the power and tannin structure that you can expect from Bordeaux. The remaining 2% is petit verdot, a spicy grape that provides extra color and spiciness.
