About the winemaker

"Château de Campuget is located in the Manduel region, just 15 kilometers outside the city of Nîmes. Shortly after the beginning of our era, the Romans were already present there. Just 20 minutes from our Château Campuget, you will find 'le pont du Gard', a Roman aqueduct. I have been there more than 100 times myself, and yet I am surprised by the beauty of this monument every time. 2000 years ago, the Romans also brought grapevines to this region. I am proud to continue this ancient tradition of winemaking."

"This rosé comes from the southern French department of Gard, the transitional area between Languedoc and Provence, just north of the city of Nîmes. The climate is Mediterranean with warm summers and, fortunately, enough rain during the summer season. The soil is similar to that of the Rhône Valley, characterized by round pebbles ('gress'). These pebbles absorb heat during the day and release it at night, providing good drainage. This southern French soil is also covered with fresh herbs such as rosemary and thyme. These herbaceous scents are called 'garrigue' by the French. If you smell this rosé blend of vermentino and syrah grapes closely and close your eyes, you can almost smell these herbs!"
