About the winemaker
“Our village of Gumiel de Mercado has only 400 inhabitants and yet it attracts many tourists every year. They all come for the wine, because some of Spain's most famous wines are made here in Ribera del Duero. As young winegrowers among all those famous wineries, we do our best to make real terroir wines: Less wood aging and more freshness and fruit. “

Ribera del duero, Spain
About a two-hour drive north of Madrid, in the center of Castilla y León, is Ribera del Duero. One of Spain's most famous wine regions. Wine has been grown here on the banks of the Duero River for 2,600 years. Due to the relative altitude, the vineyards are all between 700 and 1000 meters, it is relatively cool despite the large number of hours of sunshine. The ideal conditions for wine growing. Yet it has not always been a success story. Ribera del Duero is a real late bloomer. When it was granted Denominación de Origen (DO) status in 1982, there were only nine wineries in this area. Since then, Ribera del Duero has grown considerably. Because the popularity of the Tempranillo grape increased significantly, more vineyards were planted. Today, almost 300 wineries have their roots in Ribera del Duero, with a total of almost 22,000 hectares of vineyards.
