“In 1533, King Henry II baptized his son with his personal favorite, sweet wine from Jurançon. This immediately made the wines from our region internationally popular. This continued until the phylloxera pandemic when our region was hit hard. After this, the region fell into oblivion, but I am working hard to put Jurancon back on the map, especially with dry wines.”

Jurançon, France
The Jurançon wine region is located in the rolling landscape of the foothills of the Pyrenees. The landscape is characterized by valleys and hills where wine growing alternates with agriculture and forests. Jurançon's vineyards probably date back to the early Middle Ages, around the 10th century, when an increasing population in the area began clearing land for agriculture and planting vines around local settlements. The first mention of the grape variety "mansengue" is made in writings from the 16th century. By then, the sweet wines had already become famous throughout France. The nice thing is that this grape variety still predominates in this area. In two sizes; small and large. The name says it all, one variety has very small grapes but a lot of flavor, the other variety has less flavor but more juice. By blending both types, the wines from this area are not only surprisingly tasty, but they also have a very competitive price/quality ratio.
