"Alta Alella is a real family project. Together with my wife and two daughters we started in 1991. Since then we have worked very hard to prepare our vineyards to make Cava, white and red wine. Convinced by our own dream. We have been doing this completely organically from the start with all due respect for our environment. In the course of our adventure, we have also set up a special cellar for making natural wines."

“There is one more and new Cava, in this case an ultra-young and with no added sulphites 2015 Bruant, produced with old-vine Pansa Blanca (Xarel-lo) grapes from granitic soils sold without liqueur d'expedition. The nose is quite reticent, with shy notes of white fruit and flowers and hints of dry herbs. The palate is sharp and saline, clean and fresh, and the bubbles are better integrated than you might think. 10,000 bottles produced."

"Jaar in jaar uit onberispelijk. Geen sulfiet. Geen suiker. Geen toevoegingen. Wel een vogeltje op het etiket. En op de kaart van El Celler de Can Roca, het restaurant in Girona dat Noma een paar jaar geleden van de troon stootte als beste ter wereld. Heeft Bruant een handje aan meegeholpen. Met een fijn-droge, lofbitterige wijn. Zachte mousse, het kittige van wit fruit, schuchtere kruiderij en een ziltverstuiving in de afdronk. Geen klachten. Of het moet zijn dat die fles zo snel leeg is."

Alella, Spain

The Pansa Blanca grape (better known to some as Xarel-lo) is mainly used to produce the sparkling pride of Catalonia; Cava. The grape has an extremely high dose of resveratrol, a very healthy substance that is naturally found in the skins of blue grapes. This substance also ensures that wines from Pansa Blanca can age surprisingly well. This Pansa Blanca comes from the Alella region. Alella is one of the smallest areas of origin in all of Spain. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this region is the unique upper layer of the soil (called Sauló by the Catalans themselves). This consists of a mixture of granite and sand that retains the heat well.
