Thirty years ago, Viognier was a rarity, found only in the northern Rhone Valley. In total, there were only 30 hectares planted in Condrieu. From here, the victory march of the now fashionable Viognier began, to the southern Rhône and Languedoc. This viognier comes from Languedoc, the up-and-coming region south of the Rhône. Wines from this area used to be sold under the 'Vin de Pays' label, but winemakers felt that this name did not do justice to the quality wines coming from this region.
